W2A & Officials Designing to bring State-of-the-art Regional Forensics Center to Northampton County

W2A has been working closely with Coroner Zachary Lysek, completing a study for a much-needed forensics center in Northampton County. Preliminary designs presented by W2A Design Group to supportive County officials provide a cutting edge / state-of-the-art facility that will address the needs of the County far into the future.

The design of the 23,770 S.F. center incorporates features such as specialized equipment and building systems, a large refrigerated area and private viewing area for families, as well as a secured enclosed drop-off area and large storage garage for Coroner’s vehicles, mobile lab equipment and space for crash investigations.

Space was designed to be flexible and adaptable. Special consideration was given to work flow process and space utilization / efficiencies. Future expansion has been accommodated in the facility organization.

CreditSafe Receives Community Development Award

Now-Featured Wind Bracing

Congratulations to CreditSafe Company for receiving a Community Development award from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce at their Lehigh Valley Economic Outlook Luncheon on Tuesday January 22, 2013.  CreditSafe is Europe’s most-used supplier of online company credit reports.  The company is headquartered in Cardiff, Wales, UK, with offices in Germany, France, Sweden, Ireland, Belgium and the Netherlands.  W2A Design Group is proud to have assisted CreditSafe in launching its US operations on Pond Road in Allentown this past September.

Services provided by W2A included: field survey of existing space; preparation of existing building plans; new space plan in conjunction with Steelcase dealer, IWS, of Allentown; preparation of architectural plans for permitting; selection of finishes; and construction coordination with general contractor, Shane Patrick, of Allentown.  During demolition, unknown building wind bracing was discovered within two walls; it was thus decided to make an architectural element out of the wind bracing and to paint it “CreditSafe Red”.
